QPSC Wants to Send You MORE $$!
Last year Quinn Plastic Surgery Center and Medical Day Spa sent out $3500 in American Express gift cards to patients who referred friends to our practice. A lot of patients got MULTIPLE gift cards! This year, we want $3500 to look like chump-change and we need your help!
Our Patient Referral Program is super easy and practically takes no work on your part. All we need is for your friend to tell us who sent her when she comes for her consultation. When your friend books surgery or treatments, we will send you your American Express gift card that you can use anywhere you choose.
If you have had surgery and you forgot to tell us who referred you, you can email us that information at info@quinnplasticsurgery.com OR you can call us at 913-492-3443 (You can also use this contact information to tell us if you have referred someone since October 2009 that has had surgery and we will get your $$ right out to you!).

Is Your Surgeon Qualified?? A Message from Dr. Quinn
Recently there has been an influx of news stories about patients who have had procedures performed on themselves by persons falsely portraying plastic surgeons. Many times these patients become disfigured and even suffer complications as severe as death from having foreign and toxic materials implanted or injected into their bodies. These types of cases are always a reminder of how important it is to research a surgeon before choosing to have a cosmetic procedure performed.
For any cosmetic procedure you are desiring, you must make sure the surgeon you choose is a BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON, not just a board certified surgeon or board certified cosmetic surgeon. By being a board certified plastic surgeon this doctor has had at least 5 years of training and experience in surgery, with at least 2 years specifically in plastic surgery. He must also be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and operate only in accredited medical facilities.
The way our medical system is set up now, any medical doctor can legally perform a cosmetic procedure without having any specific training, meaning a neurologist can legally perform liposuction without ever having any formal training in surgical procedures. For this reason, some unethical physicians will pass themselves off as “cosmetic surgeons” to make an extra buck. Only surgeons who have gone through the rigorous training and testing necessary to be board certified in plastic surgery can call themselves “plastic surgeons”.
If you are considering a cosmetic procedure, please take a moment to check your surgeon’s board certification. Just visit www.plasticsurgery.org to find a list of accredited plastic surgeons in your area.
Dr. John Michael Quinn, MD, FACS is a board certified plastic surgeon who has not only had specific training in plastic surgery, but has been practicing and perfecting his technique for 23 years. If you are interested in a cosmetic procedure and/or have questions about board certification, please feel free to call our office anytime, 913-492-3443.
Breast Augmentation Choices: Above or Below Muscle?
For our next installment of “Breast Augmentation Choices,” we examine the difference in placement for your implant. While Dr. Quinn prefers and recommends a sub-muscular (under the muscle) placement of implant, you should be knowledgable of your choice.
Sub-muscular Breast Implant PlacementThe possible benefits of this placement are that it may result in less palpable implants, less capsular contracture, a more natural look, and easier imaging of the breast with mammography. The sub-muscular placement may make surgery last longer, may make recovery longer, and may make it more difficult to have some re-operation procedures than the sub-glandular placement.
Sub-glandular Breast Implant PlacementSub-glandular placement may make your surgery and recovery time shorter. It may make the implant easier to access if re-operation is necessary. This placement also may make it easier to see and feel your implants through your skin after your surgery. Capsular contracture is more likely with sub-glandular placement, and imaging of the breast with mammography may be more difficult.
It is always important to be aware of your choices when choosing to have a breast augmentation procedure. Make sure you have discussed your options with your surgeon to ensure that you and your surgeon understand your expectations!
